History of Faith Outreach Ministry of Jacksonville, Inc. 2605 N. Pearl Street Jacksonville, FL 32206 Elder John C. Taylor, Jr., Pastor & Founder
In the month of October 1992 Elder John C. Taylor, Jr., being led and directed by God, step out on faith with four of God's chosen people to begin a ministry in which the Lord had given him the name "Faith Outreach Ministry" which is now an awesome and powerful ministry for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Worship was held in Elder Taylor's home, 1993 W. 5th Street, until the Lord led him to a small building at 2605 N. Pearl Street to build his holy temple. Services continued in his home until the Lord instructed as well as guided him in the renovation of this building.
Elder Taylor and God's chosen disciples was well on the way, high in faith and dedicated to bringing the vision and promise of this new and dynamic ministry into operation. On October 28, 1992 we were able to move into God's sanctuary and hold our first bible study and praise service and what a glorious time we shared to see where God had brought us from. When we looked around and beheld what God had accomplished in a month's time, Psalm 92:5 came to our mind "Oh Lord how great are thy works" for blessings after blessings unfolded and doors after doors open before our very eyes.
One Sunday morning seventeen join the ministry during our Sunday School hour. Our dedication service was held on November 8, 1992 and from that time on God's power and anointing has overwhelmed this movement.
To name some of the blessings that God bestowed upon us in a year time are:
3). Purchased P. A. System 4). Fed the hungry & needy
5). Clothed the needy 6). Began a Nursing Home Ministry
7). Purchased a Van 8). Purchased Hammond
organ
9). Thirty Souls added to the movement 10). Began Youth workshop
We are blessed to be in this inspiring, anointed and God led ministry under the leadership of Elder Taylor who is devoted and concerned about God's people.
SECOND YEAR 1993 - 1994
As we continue on in the second year God continue to bestow his blessings upon us through our inspirational and outstanding pastor, Pastor John C. Taylor, Jr.. With the natural eye we can identify our growth in membership especially when the Lord added to the ministry during the First's year Anniversary and throughout the year. Next God led Elder Taylor to move into our current location, 634 Parker St., although at times it seemed that Elder Taylor's vision wasn't fast approaching, yet he assured us that the Lord will work it out and that in order to grow you must have room to grow. We began renovating the church in June 1995 and it was ready for worship the 1st Sunday in August 1995. Oh What a Mighty God we serve for we never failed to feed the hungry, continued our nursing home ministry and God blessed us to ordain our first deacon, Dea. Ashley Stewart. There's no secret what God can do!
THIRD YEAR 1994 - 1995
The Lord keeps doing great things for US! As we entered into our third year of the ministry, God continued to add to the ministry. Continually running revivals, outreaching to the needy and witnessing to the people in our neighborhood we can see the fruits of our obedience, how the neighbors sit on their porches listening to the Word of God and every now and then they'll make a visit. On several occasions they'll stop Elder Taylor and ask him to pray for them or a love one and that alone lets us know that God has a purpose for us to be where we are today.
But sadly to say, yes some members have fallen by the wayside and we are FAITHFULLY OUTREACHING to them and that's why we have the theme "We are One" for we are members one of another. God chose to take home our own Mother Patricia Mitchell, one who was dedicated to the Lord and loved to work with the young people and do her Masters will. We will miss us dearly.
The Lord Jesus continually gave us a mind to work to better his sanctuary.
1). Remodel kitchen 4). Rewiring of church
2). Purchased drums 5). Purchase A/C unit
3). Purchased youth robes 6). Refurbished doors
We know that another year has come to an end, but the work of the Lord must continue on.
FOURTH YEAR 1995 - 1996
Thanking God for another year's journey with the leadership of our inspirational and outstanding pastor, Pastor John C. Taylor, Jr... This year we have seen God give an increase and decrease in our ministry and we failed not to give him the Praise. To our disappointment our roof gave away on us so we had to return to our Pearl Street location, for we thank our God that he gave Pastor Taylor the wisdom and guidance to keep that worship center. We began renovating the church for preparations for this year's anniversary with the theme, "WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT", for Satan meant it for evil but the Lord made it for our good. We continued to visit the sick, feed the hungry, clothe the naked and help those that stand in the need. For we know we serve a mighty God and we don't know what he has in store for FAITH OUTREACH MINISTRY and we can't wait to see it, for there's no secret what God can do! Last year the neighbors sat on their porches and listen to God’s word but this year they came in and tasted and saw that the Lord is good, Praise God.
We know that another year has come to an end, but the work of the Lord must continue on.
FIFTH YEAR 1996 - 1997
This year has been truly appointed by God for he continues smile upon us and let us know to HOLD ON, HELP IS ON THE WAY. God gave Elder Taylor a message, "There's a cloud about the size of a man hand and He will rain on FAITH OUTREACH one more time", and surely we can see the downpour this year. So we can boldly say "The Victory Is In JESUS" this year for the Lord added to this church fifteen members; we upgrade our musical instruments; we purchase choir robes for our youth, and to continue our Outreach Ministry. As we go on working and trusting in the Lord we pray that He strengthens and work through our pastor, Elder Taylor.
Once again, the Lord call home our own, Mother Lillie McCray, whom will be missed in the celebrating of anniversaries to come, her witnessing, exhortation spirit and unchanging dedication to this ministry.
It wasn't by might, nor by power, but by the spirit of the Lord of hosts that we made it thus far.
We know that another year has come to an end, but the work of the Lord must continue on.
SIXTH YEAR 1997 - 1998
This year has been a trying of our faith and patience in the Lord but we have been able to hold on to God’s word through the spiritual instructions of our pastor, Elder Taylor. This year he has instilled in us that “we must continue to the end” and that the race or battle is not ours to win, it’s the Lord. Certainly the Lord hasn’t failed us yet, although some left the ministry, he gave us new members because we stayed fast to the work of the ministry.
This year we were able to:
1. Upgrade our drums 5. Upgrade the keyboards
2. Purchase an electronic piano 6. Recarpet the sanctuary
3. Upgrade our computer system 7. Upgrade some of office equipment
4. Paid off our organ 8. Purchase chairs for sanctuary
SEVENTH YEAR 1998 - 1999
The joy of the Lord is our strength and we appreciate where the Lord has brought us from and the great things he has done for us both spiritually and physically. The Lord has shown us to be content and have joy through the working of His will and plan for our ministry. Once again the Lord saw fit to let there be a decrease in the ministry then smiled on us with an increase the growth of the ministry. Certainly the Lord hasn’t failed us yet, although some left the ministry, he gave us new members because we stayed fast to the work of the ministry.
This year God called Sis. Joann Wyatt into the evangelistic ministry and we were able to continue our outreach and nursing home ministry and
1. Purchase a computer system 2. Purchase a printer
3. Purchase a 24 passenger mini Van 4. Purchase kitchen appliances
